Impromptunes is Australia's leading improvised musical comedy troupe, combining the mischief of improvisation with the magic of musical theatre.

The troupe debuted in 2013 and has since performed across Australia and internationally at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Perth Fringe World, Adelaide Fringe, Bondi Festival and Edinburgh Fringe.

Each live show is a one-hour improvised musical, based on a single audience suggestion. All of the music, dialogue, songs and dance routines are completely made up on the spot.

Since 2018, Impromptunes has also released a weekly completely improvised musical podcast episode.

Impromptunes shares the love of improvised musical theatre through workshops for performers and non-performers alike, as well as offering entertainment at schools and corporate events.

Impromptunes delivers an in-depth workshop program on improvised musical theatre. As the leaders of the art form in Australia, there is no better place to develop this skill!

Sessions are run by the experienced Impromptunes team and run weekly for 6-8 weeks.

TEAM BUILDING

The building blocks of improvisation are teamwork, listening and clear communication.

Corporate training sessions are crafted to ensure all manner of participants feel comfortable to get involved - no performance experience necessary!

These sessions can also include a performance by the Impromptunes team.

WORKSHOPS

Impromptunes has developed educational programmes for both primary and high school students that can be tailored to meet curriculum needs.

We offer communication and team building for students, intro sessions to improvisation and/or musical improvisation and plenty more to keep students engaged and developing new skills
