David Peake

David Peake graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts 2005 and soon after, taught the skills he acquired at St Martin’s Youth Arts Centre. His musical writing was showcased in 2 writers’ workshop series featuring Broadway composers, Ahrens/Flaherty in 2009 and Stephen Schwartz in 2010. Schwartz commented that his work was “immediately recognisable as uniquely Australian”.

His musical Avoid was part of the 2011 New Musicals Australia inaugural season. His other works, Song Cyclist and The Big Gay Cruise have since entertained audiences in various festivals. He is now a regular featured writer in the Home Grown musicals initiative, run by Hedger and Nicholson.
